I'm 17 Months Old Today!!

I am 17 months old today,
and the list of my "talents" gets longer and longer!
I can "help" feed Zeus in the morning.....
this usually results in eating a morsel of
dog food each day....I haven't started barking yet
so it mustn't affect me too badly!
Mommy tries to catch me before I do it 'cause
she says it's gross!

I am a master at chopsticks.....or
anything else I can reach from the drawer
that seems cool to play with!

Much like my father, I am a whiz at fixing
things around the house.....put a
screwdriver in my hand and I can even
repair an airplane!

I can "eat" by myself, but
it usually gets pretty messy....and Minigo
just happen to be my favorite!
I am great at eating Cheerios in the morning,
and my fork skills are coming along
quite nicely. I like to dip my food into
anything resembling sauce of any kind too!!

And let's face it, I'm a huge hit with the ladies!!


All in all, life is pretty good!
I am still working on my eye teeth, which hasn't
been much fun for me or Mommy.
I have decided that I would much rather
sleep with the hall light on.
I am learning lots of new words every day......
light, hockey, bumpy, bubble and pee-pee are a few
of my new favorites.
I love Sesame Street
(especially Elmo and Cookie Monster.)
And my newest, most favorite toy is
the shopping cart that I picked out
(all by myself) at ToysRUs!

What a little man I am turning out to be!!

Excuse the mess in the background.....
and the bruises on Hayden's poor forehead,
but I had to post a photo of Hayden's 5th haircut.
Yes that's right, at the age of 16 1/2 months,
he has had 5 haircuts!!
Looking at Ralph and I, it was inevitable that
our little one would be "blessed" with
lots of hair!!
(And what a dead give away that he's Ralph's son,
he's holding a hammer!!)

We were at Oma and Opa's house tonight.
Surprise, surprise....the cameras were out and we had
an impromptu photo session with the boys!

(Hayden - 16 months, Brody - 9 months.)

These pictures really tell the story without
any narration from me!

There were no hard feelings.....
they gave each other big kisses at the end of the night!

These two are going to get into LOTS
of trouble....I mean fun..... together when
Brody starts walking!!

I can hardly believe that this sweet little
boy came into my life exactly
16 months ago today!!
He is becoming such a little man....
not so much a baby anymore,
but Mr. Independant!!

He is loving all things cars and trucks, yet he
still holds a soft spot for Dora.
He says new "words" every day, and I usually
have tears in my eyes with each one.....
car, truck, hot, baby, juice, mommy, daddy, auntie,
meow, cookie, cracker, book, yummy, zeus, bella....
and we are working on LOTS more!
He loves to give kisses (thank goodness because
mommy asks for a lot of them!), blow kisses
and wave to everyone/everything he sees.

He likes to "help" with household chores (he loves to Swiffer!)
and he likes to throw his own diapers in the garbage.
He loves to walk to the mailbox, and also
enjoys being pushed in the Chariot during
our nightly walk.....and he
likes to "caw" at birds that fly by.
And lately, his bedtime story often takes a few tries
before he has just the right one!

He has such a sweet disposition,
we're just working on taming the temper a bit!
Maybe when you are sensitive like he is,
you have to have the ups and the downs?!

Butterfield Acres......is the place to be!

We made our first trip to
Butterfield Acres Petting Zoo!!
Grandma & Grandpa were visiting from
Saskatoon, and Auntie Tessa and Brody came too.
We had lots of fun getting dirty
and petting all of the little animals....

The cost was $8.99 for Hayden's admission because
he "can walk" and was "wearing shoes"...
Brody was barefoot and FREE....figure that out?!
(Brody 8 1/2 months, Hayden 15 1/2 months)

The baby goats were loving us 'cause we had food!
Baby fingers are fun to nibble too!

Mr. Donkey gave Hayden a big "hee-haw"
and was very gentle when the boys touched
his ears and nose.

Hayden quite enjoyed himself in the pig pen
and was running around amidst the babies....
he looks a bit worried that he may be their dinner!

Grandpa and Daddy were helping Hayden
feed the goats through the fence.....at one point,
Grandpa gave Hayden a piece of the cone
to give to the goat but Hayden decided
he should eat it himself!! Yum!

Well folks, he's finally figured it out.....
and boy can he move!!
Last week, he just decided he was finished
with crawling, and hasn't slowed down since.
This has proved to be a challenge when shopping,
because now that he knows he can walk....he INSISTS!!
He is so proud of every step that he takes,
and he loves to run back and forth
between Mommy & Daddy!
(this technique guarantees a great night's
sleep if done many, many times in succession!!)

Mmmmmm.....corn on the cob!

We were enjoying some corn on the cob this weekend,
and Hayden wanted in on the action!!
Now that he is learning to chew
with all of his wonderful new teeth, this
was BIG fun!
What has not been fun, is Hayden seems to
be getting teeth number 12, 13, 14
all at the same time.....it's a
good thing they forget how much it hurts!

Goin' to the Zoo!!

We had a beautiful day at the zoo today......
but man, was it a scorcher!!
It felt like it was about 35 degrees!
We got to see lots of animals, and Hayden loved
the flamingos and birds the best.
(Mommy's favorites were the giraffes
and the new baby tiger.)
We stopped for lunch in the park, which
gave Hayden a chance to stretch his legs,
and us to have a nice family photo!

We pulled out of the parking lot blasting the A/C,
and Hayden was asleep in about
a minute and a half!!
That's a busy 3 hours for a little guy!

What an angel.....a very sweaty angel!!

YEE HAW Stampede 2007!

Ralph and I took Hayden to his first Stampede!

We were only there for a couple of hours,

but we had fun, ate traditional Stampede food,

and saw lots of cool stuff!!

Baby's first corndog!

Horses, cows and pigs....oh my!

I wanna go on the bumper cars!!

Daddy played his annual game of whac-a-mole.....
and won.....as usual!

Hayden was covered in sugar...
he was a MESS!

Hayden has been trying so hard to walk......
and today, Mommy caught it on film!
The video isn't great because I took the footage
with the camera, (I had to act very quickly!)
but I was so excited that he took
so many steps on his own!!
Now, he just has to build up some courage,
and he'll be running in NO TIME!!

And by the way.....I noticed afterward
that he was walking with a popsicle stick
in his mouth. Great. I would not normally
promote such a 'careless' activity, or
put my child in such 'danger'....
all for the sake of a photo-op!

Hayden makes me laugh every day.....
and today was no exception!
The last two days he has figured out
how to make this cute little face and it
cracks me up every time!! All of a sudden, his whole
expression changes....and I wonder if he is really
excited about something, or if it just
feels cool to move his lips like this?!

Yah Baby! I'm 14 months old today!!

Am I a superstar, or what?@#!
I love to wear mommy's sunglasses and
I sure think I am pretty cool!
Hayden is really keeping us busy....trying VERY hard
to walk on his own, saying all kinds of new words,
and exploring EVERYTHING he can get his hands on!
He loves to wave, give kisses, open and close the screen door,
play in Zeus' water dish, eat kitty food, go for rides in his
wagon or jogger, chatter, play with the blinds, hang on Mommy,
help Daddy with projects, get dirty,
and climb on anything he can.....
just to name a few!!

Hayden is on the move people!!!!

Hayden is a little cautious when it comes to walking, so we decided to bring up the Winnie the Pooh airplane from the basement to give him a little support when walking around.......very cute.

You go buddy! By the way, watch the walls, it's not a bumper car!

Hayden has discovered a new place to play......
beside the garage with all of the rocks!!
He can occupy himself forever, but he has to be reminded
NOT to put them in his mouth!
He also loves the 'tinny' sound of the rocks as he
drops them into the holes of the ladder.
He's loving the warm weather and
he is a VERY busy, and very
entertaining little boy!

**And by the way.....he is sporting haircut #4!!**

and boy, is it appropriate attire!
Daddy started a new fun game with our
little monkey......
he laughs like crazy when you put
your foot on his belly and jiggle it around
'cause he is super ticklish!
